Friday August 9 Del Mar Picks

   Compared to other Fridays, today is pretty calm, but I'm guessing is just the calm before the storm because tomorrow and the following weeks there will be plenty of action in the track.

    Just as a preview, tomorrow if you come to the track, you will receive a a Beach Cooler with your paid admission, so come early, because those things will fly.  Also, tomorrow is radio show time, remember to listen "Del Mar Direct", with host Toby Turrell, at XX Sports AM 1090 (http://xsportsradio.com), from 9 to 10 am (12-1pm ET).

    Tonight is concert night. "Pinback'" will be playing its hits at the Seaside Stage right after the races.  This local band has played before at Del Mar and they usually do a pretty good job with entertaining the crowd. Remember the concert is free if you enter the track before the races are over, but you can also pay $20 to enjoy the concert.

   Today there are 8 races, including the Daisycutter Handicap, where KINZ FUNLY MONKEY is the favorite so far.
