Today is the Hollywood Gold Cup!

It's seems that a part of the old days glamour is back today with the Gold Cup program. The running of the 73rd Hollywood Gold Cup brings with it a day full with activities and great races.

Remember to bring your best hat to the track to be part of the Gold Cup Hat Contest, where the most beautiful, most traditional and the most original will be rewarded.

But if you get there and you forgot to b ring one, don't worry. With your paid entrance you get a free fedora hat, a very cool item for this sunny weather.

Also, there will be a star session. I'LL HAVE ANOTHER will make an appearance after the 3rd race. The Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner will be paraded for the fans to say goodbye before this great horse departs to Japan as a stallion.  Its jockey, Mario Gutierrez, and trainer, Doug O'Neill will be giving away autographs at the Paddock area before the races starts.

Get there in time and be ready to shine!


In other news, TURBULENT DESCENT was sold last Saturday. The Grade I winner used to be trained by Mike Puype, becoming one of its better and favorite horses.  The last race TURBULENT DESCENT won at Hollywood Park was the Desert Storming Handicap on June 17th, leaving a record of 4 of 4 winning races at this track. Its new residency will be New York, under trainer Todd Pletcher's barn.

Besides de Gold Cup, there's another featured race, the Royal Heroine Mile Stakes, in today's race card of 10 races.
