Sunday 6 November (BC wrap-up and SA Fall Closing Day)

Hello everyone!
Paddock girl here...

Well, well, didn't I tell you that the Breedeers' Cup was pure excitement with lots of surprises? Longshots, unexpected winners, plenty of money and fun is what we got from this international race weekend.
Even when we didn't have the winners (except for the win of REGALLY READY), we got at least one horse on the board on yesterday's races: BIRDRUN, AMAZOMBIE, SHAKELFORD and TRES BORRACHOS, SEA MOON, CREATIVE CAUSE, TURALLURE and GOLDIKOVA, DROSSELMEYER ... and we definitely enjoyed watching these contenders.

These were the highlights of the 28 edition of the BC.

Smallest payout: $2.40 to win by SECRET CIRCLE (Juvenile Classic)
Biggest payout: $131 to win by COURT VISION (Dirt Mile; 64 to 1!)
Happy Moment: Dr. Hansen, owner of HANSEN (winner of the Grey Goose BC Juvenile), was so happy and grateful to share this moment with his whole family, that kissed the winner circle's ground...and will do it again if he wins the Derby.
Sad moment: GOLDIKOVA was facing disqualification from the Dirt Mile after getting losing its 3 year reign and grabbing the third position; at the end, no changes were made but the foreign queen lost the crown.
Family Moment: ST. NICHOLAS ABBEY got the whole O'Brien family at the winner cirlcle during the Emirate Ailines BC Turf race. Trained by Aidan O'Brien and riden by his son, Joseph, the Irish bred payed $6.80 to win.

Match moment: With DROSSELMEYER, jockey Mike Smith won over Chantal Sutherland (GAME ON DUDE) in the BC Classic... it was the ultimate Match Race - Revenge moment of the BC, since Smith lost this race by a nose last year with ZENYATTA...
Winning Favorites: Only three delivered like everybody was expecting (SECRET CIRCLE, MY MISS AURELIA, ROYAL DELTA, REGALLY READY, the other 7 races gave the bettors and the horses connections a great payout.
Jockey's Highlights: Only Three jockeys won two races in this BC John Velazquez, Corey Nakatani and Mike Smith, who is not tied with Jerry Bailey with 15 wins for the all time record in the BC.

Next year, this event will go back to Santa Anita, which is having its closing day today... and a mandatory payoff; therefore, here are the selections for the last race card of this fall meet.

Race 7: SECRET COVE with SUNBURN and CARRIE ROSE... keep and eye on HOT TICKET and CALIFORNIA FLAG, they usually give surprises, so I would include them in the superfecta.

Race 8: MARCH MARY, TUESDAYS WITH P.

Race 9: MALIBU PIER, CITY TO CITY... include SARAH'S SECRET on your 'fectas.

Race 10: NUCLEAR MISSILE, SUNDAY SEEKER, KING OF SWING.

Get some rest after this BIG horse racing weekend and see you next week at Hollywood Park!
