   What an interesting day we had yesterday at Santa Anita. Races where very competitive and the thrill was there on each one of them, especially with all the winnings we got.. Most of our horses were on the money...congratulatiosn to all.

   As you might know now, jockey RAFAEL BEJARANO won 3 of 5 Grade I stakes abord POWER BROKE, EXECUTIOVEPRIVILEDGE and the very well known GAME ON DUDE.... the power duo Baffert-Bejarano is working very well and I'm sure it will give more winnings during this meet.

   In other things, fans where really about the ZENYATTA statue. Dozens gathereed before noon at the entrance fountain to be part of this historical moment. Owner Jerry and Ann Moss where there to thank fans an the track for this tribute to her little precious queen. It was very cool to see fans taking pictures with her the whole day!... Now, ZENYATTA will acompanny JOHN HENRY and others to delight everyone who enters the track.

   Today there are 10 races, including the Jonh Henry Turf Championship Stakes... it will be a competitive race, but the favorite so far is TURBO COMPRESSOR.

   If you're going to the track, remember to bring a hat and to stay hidrated, today is going to be Hot!

Saturday 29 September Picks (Belmont Park included)

 Very nice Opening Day for us. Couple of winnings to make it better came in handy too... just a nice way to start this meet.

Several things are happening today at the track, especially with all the betting promotions like "Let it ride", "Cash Call" next day bet and others. But that's not all, the first 15,000 patrons will receive a nice cap with their paid admission. Also, the famous food festival truck will be taking place at the infield...

And one more thing,  ZENYATTA statue will be unveiling today! The Queen will finally have a  permanent place near the paddock. 

Today there are 11 races, including multiple featured races, all of them are worth $250,000. This means that a combined purse of $1.25 million is today's hook for every horse men out there, since there are 5 Grade 1 races.  They go from race 6 to 10 and as you guessed, there will be part of today's Pick-6 bet, which already has a carryoner of $55,260. The last leg of this eccentric bet, race 11, is also a minor stakes race with a purse of 70,000.

The biggest attention is being caught by GAME ON DUDE (race 10). Now that jockey RAFAEL BEJARANO has the mount, it has become the favorite of the whole day card.

 Well, after a couple of weeks break, which was very much need it, is great to be back here and ready to let you know all what is going on at Southern California regarding horse racing.
As you know, today is a very special day for all fans: Santa Anita Autumm Meet starts today!... and that means only one thing, the Breeders' Cup is getting closer and closer.  Thumps up for Opening Day!

Before there, let me tell you that there were a couple of interesting turnouts at the Fairplex meeting in Pomona. Jockey MARTIN PEDROZA got dethroned after being the leading rider since 1998. The new champion: EDWIN MALDONADO, who started to ride in California two years ago. The score was 26 to 19. Also, there's a new leading trainer. Without champions Jeff Mullins and Jack Carava, Jorge Gutierrez won his first trainer title of his career. Nonetheless, the biggest stumble of the season happened during the last day, when the favorite NORVSKY, fell down and unseated jockey JOE TALAMO.

Back at Satnta Anita for the first if a 24 day meet, everything is ready to start. Today there are 9 races, including the Eddie Delahoussaye Stakes, better know as Eddie D, which will be a hard race to win for all the contenders.

Saturday September 1o Picks (With Saratoga)

   "Del Mar Direct" has ended for this season. As you know I've been doing a small segment every Saturday for this radio show at XX Sports 1090AM. Being able to participate with Gary Mandella,Toby Turrell, Larry Zap has been a great experience and lots of fun.  Thank you to all my radio fans.

   Last weekend for Del Mar. This meet always goes very fast, once you start to get used to it, it starts to leave... but as usual, great thing are reserved for the end of the season and this holiday weekend is not the exception.

   As the season end, there has been a couple of records achieved.  Jockey Martin Garcia hit the 1,000 winning races mark last Thursday aboard Bubba Fitz. The Mexican jockey also won other two races on the same day, which not puts him on the 4th position of the jockey standings.  Also, trainer Bob Baffert got another important milestone yesterday when he won his 100th stakes race at Del Mar. Fed Bi, a 4 year old horse, did the job for him at the El Cajon Stakes.

   Today there are 10 races and 2 of them are featured: the Harry F. Brubaker Stakes and the 62rd Running of Del Mar Debutante. The carryover was picked up yesterday, but I'm sure that bettors will bring lots of money to the pick-6 bet.

   Nonetheless, most of today's action is not on the horses (hard to believe that at Del Mar, right?) Beer fest, food trucks and music will get combined to bring patrons the popular reggae festival. Ziggy Marley, Nikka Costa and others are on today's "menu" to end the Summer Concert series of this year. So, in case that you don't see that many people watching the races, you know where they might be... Seaside Stage! If you're planning to attend the concert, be prepared for big crowds and lost of fun and dancing.
