Friday August 24 Picks

Good afternoon fans
Paddock Girl here:

Sunny Del Mar is not here, but is still shining, especially after the big weekend that is just starting today: PACIFIC CLASSIC this Sunday (just is case you didin't know).

There have been a lot of updates at this track, especially regarding the biggest race of this lovely racetrack,  and is not just all sweet and candy on this TVG's PC  edition.. there's some drama, like soap opera drama.

But before we go to that, let me tell you that 10 horses will be competing in the 22nd TVG Pacific Classic for the $1,000,000 purse... here are the post positions:

1.- RAIL TRIP
2.- AMANI
3.- RICHARD'S KID
4.- WHERE'S STERLING
5.-- DULLAHHAN.
6.- AKKADIAN
7.- JAYCITO
8.- SUGGESTIVE BOY
9.- GAME ON DUDE (favorite)
10.- RIVERTING REASON

Besides not having the winner ACCLAMATION on this race, the biggest news has been the sell of Richard's Kid, winning horse that after being trained by Bob Baffert for the las years, now it belongs in the Doug O'Neill's barn (now under Leandro Mora's management due to the 40-day suspension the trainer is serving now), just a week prior to the biggest race of Del Mar.

The sale went down so fast between owners that Baffert didn't know that the two-timw Classic winner wasn't under his wing after the deal was done last Saturday, leaving some mixed feelings at his barn and sparkling some confrontation between both groups at the post drawing party that went on Wednesday night at the Burlap restaurant.

Heading back to the track, today there are 7 races, including the CTT and Thoroughbred Owners of California Handicap. Also, as usual, there's a guarantee pick 6 carryover of $125,000.

Remember today is concert night: "Jimmy Cliff" will be playing again for the Del Mar crowds after the races (around 8pm).... the place to go to hear some reggae and ska music is the Seaside Stage.

Here are your picks for this Friday:

Race 1: IMPERIAL PRIDE, HIDDEN BLESSING... include GIBSON HOME RUN in your 'fectas.

Race 2: DUKE STREET KING, SEXYUKNOWIT...include KAFISTER in your 'fectas.

Race 3: U.S. CITIZEN, GRUMPY SMALL MOUTH... include SWEET SWAP in your 'fectas.

Race 6: CTT and Thoroughbred Owners of California H. ($85,000):  LET'S GO CHEYENNE, LADY ASPEN...include QUAINTLY in your 'fectas.

Race 7: TRIBAL CUSTOME, IT'S AINE... include ONLY JOSIE KNOWS in your 'fectas.
